NetSuite Optimization & Customization Stop working around your ERP. Start working with it.

NetSuite optimization picks up where go-live left off. Most accounts still run on the settings chosen back then. We rebuild yours around how your business runs today: automating the manual, fixing what’s broken, and building what’s missing.

Common problems we fix

Where teams usually get stuck.

The situations we’re called in to fix most often. If any of these sound like your team, we can help.

  • “Month-end close takes too long.” Manual journal entries, reconciliations that don’t reconcile, reports that need an export. We automate the close and clean up the data model.

  • “Your team repeats the same manual steps every day.” Approval emails, copy-paste between records, reports run by hand. If it happens repeatedly, it should be automated, and we build it.

  • “Standard NetSuite doesn’t fit how you operate.” Forms, fields and workflows built for a generic company. We extend the platform to match how you actually work.

  • “Your systems aren’t talking to each other.” eCommerce, 3PL, EDI or scheduling tools that don’t sync cleanly. We build and repair the integrations that keep data flowing.

  • “Nobody trusts the reports.” Numbers that don’t match the ledger and dashboards nobody uses. We rebuild reporting and validate it against NetSuite’s own numbers.

  • “You pay for modules nobody set up.” Licenses for capabilities that were never configured. We turn on and tune what you already own, often with no new spend.

Where we optimize

One operation, six places it slips.

Pick a stage to see what we usually hear and what we have already fixed there.

Plan

MRP, allocation and ATP that planners run from.

What we hear

  • “MRP fails or plans orders months out.”
  • “Planners back-calculate the forecast to get the build they want.”

What we have fixed

  • MRP planning errors traced to self-referencing work orders
  • Allocation windows resized from NetSuite’s defaults to measured lead times
  • ATP lead-time defaults found on almost every item-location record
  • Forecast-to-Load tool that tells planners what to load for a target build

Make

Work orders, capacity and costing that match the floor.

What we hear

  • “The schedule and NetSuite disagree on work order dates.”
  • “Labor and WIP reports don’t tie to the ledger.”

What we have fixed

  • Work order dates kept in sync with the finite-capacity scheduler
  • WIP variance accounting documented for auditors
  • Work order efficiency by work center, planned vs. actual
  • Lot and expiry logic fixed for second-shift production

Move

Inventory you can count on, in every bin.

What we hear

  • “Counts never match the system.”
  • “Tracing a lot means fighting a saved search.”

What we have fixed

  • Count variance analysis separating misplaced from missing stock
  • Lot Trace tool replacing a fragile saved search
  • RF-SMART directed counts and printer setup
  • Bin consolidation and replenishment by location

Sell

Orders that ship on time and bill correctly.

What we hear

  • “Nobody can say which orders will ship late.”
  • “Retailer prices on EDI orders don’t match ours.”

What we have fixed

  • OTIF dashboard scoring every sales order
  • EDI price vs. customer price discrepancy detection
  • Webstore ACH failures traced to the payment gateway
  • Connector tax and deposit discrepancies resolved

Collect & pay

AR, AP and the bank, reconciled inside NetSuite.

What we hear

  • “AR for a key customer never ties to the open balance.”
  • “Vendors ask which invoice a payment covered.”

What we have fixed

  • AR reconciliation tied to the authoritative open balance
  • Electronic Bank Payments and NACHA files
  • BAI2 bank feeds and Match Bank Data
  • Vendor bill approval controls and duplicate blocking

Report

Dashboards leadership can act on.

What we hear

  • “The dashboard shows a number the income statement doesn’t.”
  • “Margin reports run on estimated cost.”

What we have fixed

  • Executive sales dashboard rebuilt to match NetSuite’s own numbers
  • Profitability on actual cost, tied to the P&L
  • Budget vs. actual by custom segment
  • AR, ATP and demand planning dashboards

How we work

We check the numbers before you trust them.

A report that runs is not the same as a report that’s right. Every tool and dashboard we touch gets tied to NetSuite’s own numbers before anyone acts on it, and that is often where the real problem turns up.

  • Building products distributorGross margin on the profitability report

    36.0%34.5%

Report on estimated cost, then actual cost tied to the P&L

About $37K of margin overstated in a single month, invisible until the report was rebuilt on actual cost.

  • Chemicals companyMargin at one location

    20.8%63.8%

Shown when filtered by department, then the correct figure

Found in a two-round validation of a profitability report the team was already using.

  • Equipment manufacturerForecast-to-Load formula

    10 for 10

    Validated against live MRP results

Before planners relied on it, every result was checked against what NetSuite actually planned.

  • Food manufacturerLot Trace tool

    30 scenarios

QA against production data before go-live

Replaced a fragile saved search, with filters, pagination and CSV export.

Common starting points

Seven places we usually start.

High-impact, fast to scope, and visible to your team quickly. Most clients combine two or three in a single project.

Deadline-driven

SuiteScript 2.1 readiness

NetSuite is retiring older SuiteScript versions. Every custom script has to run on 2.1, and 2.1 uses a newer JavaScript engine, so scripts written for 1.0 or 2.0 can behave differently. We find out which of yours will, and fix them on your schedule instead of NetSuite’s.

  • Inventory of every script, its version and what depends on it
  • Server scripts tested on the 2.1 runtime in sandbox
  • Behavior differences fixed before anything changes in production
  • Updated and redeployed in priority order

Oracle’s timeline

  • Report validation

Before anyone acts on a dashboard, we tie it to the ledger. We find what it skips, double-counts or hardcodes, and fix it.

    • Every figure traced to the income statement
    • Credit memos, subsidiaries and constants checked
    • Rebuilt on SuiteQL where needed
    • A written note of what changed and why
  • Reporting rebuild

If your team exports to Excel to get the numbers they need, your reporting is broken. We audit, remove and rebuild the searches, dashboards and reports leadership relies on.

    • Saved search audit and consolidation
    • Role-specific dashboards for Finance, Ops, Sales and Leadership
    • Custom financial statement layouts
    • Scheduled report delivery
  • Approval chain builder

Approvals over email are an audit risk. We build multi-tier approvals natively in NetSuite for POs, bills, expenses or any transaction.

    • SuiteFlow approvals with escalation rules
    • Threshold-based routing by amount, department or vendor
    • In-system notifications
    • A full audit trail of who approved what, and when
  • Third-party script audit & repair

Scripts another partner left behind, failing quietly. We review every script and workflow that touches your records and fix what breaks.

    • Inventory of scripts, workflows and mass updates
    • Issues ranked by impact, with a patch plan
    • Fixes deployed and validated in production
    • Documentation your team can maintain
  • MRP & ATP tune-up

MRP planning from NetSuite’s defaults instead of how your product moves. We measure real lead times and resize the settings that drive the plan.

    • Lead times and allocation windows measured from your data
    • ATP and pegging behavior traced and explained
    • Self-referencing BOM and work order loops removed
    • A plan your planners run from instead of overriding
  • Payments setup

Vendor payments that leave NetSuite cleanly, and bank data that comes back in.

    • Electronic Bank Payments configuration
    • NACHA file templates with remittance detail
    • BAI2 bank feeds and Match Bank Data
    • Webstore and gateway payment issues resolved

AI on your NetSuite data

AI where it already pays off.

Not a roadmap slide. Two ways AI is part of the work today.

An AI planner inside the tool

A demand planning tool we built includes an AI copilot panel, so planners can ask about forecast accuracy and supply impact without leaving NetSuite.

Faster, deeper validation

We work with AI connected directly to NetSuite to query live data, check reports against the ledger and trace problems across records in hours, not days.

What we deliver

Two disciplines, one engagement.

NetSuite optimization gets more out of what’s already there: better configuration, automation and workflows. Customization builds what the standard platform genuinely can’t do. Most engagements involve both, and we deliver them together.

Optimization

NetSuite Optimization

We take your existing setup and rebuild it around how your business actually runs: cleaner data, automated workflows, and less manual work for your team.

  • Saved searches, dashboards and KPI reporting rebuilt
  • Workflow automation to remove repetitive manual steps
  • Approval rules and multi-tier authorization workflows
  • Bank integration setup and reconciliation
  • Role-based access cleanup and permission restructuring
  • MRP, ATP and allocation settings sized to your data

Our process

How an engagement works.

A structured approach: no surprises, no scope creep, no handoffs. The consultant who scopes the work is the one who builds it.

  1. Discovery & mapping

We map your current workflows, talk to your team, and identify exactly where NetSuite is holding you back or being underused.

  2. Scope & prioritize

We scope the work, prioritize the highest-impact items, and agree on clear deliverables before any work begins.

  3. Build & implement

We execute: automating manual steps, fixing broken configurations, and building the custom logic your operations require.

  4. Train & hand off

We train your team on everything we’ve built, document it clearly, and leave you in a position to run it yourself.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

How do I know if I need optimization or customization?

Most engagements involve both. Optimization is about getting more out of what’s already there: better configuration, automation and workflows. Customization is for when the standard platform genuinely can’t do what you need. We scope it clearly after understanding your situation.

Do we need to migrate our scripts to SuiteScript 2.1?

If you have custom scripts, yes. Oracle made SuiteScript 2.1 the standard in release 2026.2, moves SuiteScript 1.0 to end-of-life support in 2027.1, and stops running legacy script versions in 2028.2. Because 2.1 runs on a newer JavaScript engine, scripts written for 1.0 or 2.0 can behave differently, so each one needs testing, not just a version change. We inventory your scripts, test them on the 2.1 runtime in sandbox and fix what breaks, in priority order.

Will custom code survive NetSuite version updates?

We write new code in SuiteScript 2.1, the version NetSuite is standardizing on, to be upgrade-safe. We follow NetSuite’s best practices, avoid deprecated APIs, and test in sandbox before any deployment. We also document everything so your team understands what was built.

How long does a typical optimization engagement take?

Targeted engagements (fix a specific workflow, rebuild reporting, automate a process) typically take a few weeks. Broader programs covering multiple modules run 2–4 months. We always scope clearly before starting so there are no surprises.

Do you work on existing customizations built by other partners?

Yes. We regularly audit, fix and extend code built by other developers or partners. We review what’s there, tell you honestly what’s solid and what needs to be rebuilt, and take it from there.

What’s the difference between InnovaSuite and a larger NetSuite partner?

With a large partner, you’re often assigned a junior consultant or a rotating team. With us, your engagement is led by a senior consultant from start to finish, someone who has solved your problem before and is accountable to your outcomes, not a utilization metric.

Can you start with a free Business Review before committing to a project?

Yes, and it’s what we recommend. The Business Review gives us both a clear picture of what’s needed before any project scope is agreed. It’s 20 hours of senior consultant time, and many clients find it surfaces issues they didn’t know they had.

Not sure where to start? Start with a free Review.

We’ll spend 20 hours inside your NetSuite, map what’s working and what isn’t, and give you a prioritized roadmap, before you commit to anything.
